The Tragedy of Cannabis as a Schedule I Drug




Cannabis may be one of the fastest-growing and most exciting industries in the U.S., yet it also faces more hurdles than perhaps any other industry.


The most critical obstacle is the federal government’s classification of cannabis as a Schedule I controlled substance. This is the strictest category for drugs deemed to have zero medical value and a high risk of addiction. In case you’re wondering, it is the same category as heroin and stricter than the categorization for meth, and you don’t have to be Einstein to recognize that cannabis doesn’t fit this classification at all.
