University of Maryland to soon offer its first master’s study program in cannabis science

For years, cannabis was an unofficial part of the “education” of many of those attending college or university. With federal legalization of the plant in Canada and legalization in one form or another—medicinal, recreational or both—in 33 states across the U.S., including Maryland, the University of Maryland’s School of Pharmacy announced in late June that it would be launching the very first Master of Science (MS) program in Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics.

The idea behind the program—applications for which must be received by Aug. 15, with classes scheduled to begin Aug. 26—is to help provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to support patients and the medical cannabis industry at large.
