Smoking cannabis can make men more fertile, a new study suggests.
Scientists carried out the study by examining sperm counts from over 600 men who were attending a fertility clinic with their partners.
Although the expectation was that smoking the drug would lower sperm counts, they observed the opposite.
As part of the study, scientists collected 1,143 semen samples from 662 men between 2000 and 2017.
Out of all of the men, 55pc said that they smoked cannabis at some point and those who had smoked had and average 62.7 million sperm per millilitre compared to 45.4 million per mililitre for those who hadn’t.
Despite the findings suggesting that those who smoke cannabis are more fertile, it does not definitively prove that it is the case.
