Battelle, Canopy Growth partnership seeks to advance cannabis research

Non-profit research and development (RD) organization Battelle and Canopy Growth Corporation—who have teamed up to help advance knowledge surrounding cannabis in support of medical research and novel product development—recently completed multiple, fully legal cannabis imports from Canada to the U.S.

Having satisfied the rigorous federal approval process to import cannabis products into the U.S., the two organizations have completed four product transfers since Oct. 9 to Battelle’s secure research facilities, pursuant to U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency approvals, reports Canopy Growth, the world’s largest diversified cannabis company.



“For decades, Battelle scientists have been developing methods for testing a variety of controlled substances, as well as employing analytical chemistry services for government and private industry,” states the Canopy Growth statement. “Notably, product transfers have consisted of a variety of cannabis form factors, including dried cannabis and Canopy Growth’s precisely dosed Softgel capsules,” the statement adds.
