MPs, campaigners and families today blasted “cruel” restrictions they claim have denied medical cannabis to a severely epileptic girl.

The drug became legal last week for British doctors to prescribe in certain forms, and in cases of “exceptional clinical need”.

But nine-year-old Teagan Appleby’s mum said she still hasn’t got a prescription for it – despite being treated in the Evelina London Children’s Hospital after suffering up to 300 seizures a day.

Today she released a heartbreaking photo of her daughter being treated in recent weeks to draw attention to the case.

It’s claimed Teagan is a victim of strict rules, introduced just hours before medical cannabis became legal, from both the NHS and the British Paediatric Neurology Association.

According to the rules, cannabis products can only be prescribed by specialist doctors and where other treatment options have been exhausted.
