Marijuana Will Be Legal in Canada Tomorrow. This Is What That Means

Canada will become the second country in the world after Uruguay to legalize marijuana on the national level this Wednesday, Oct. 17.

The move follows Parliament’s approval of Bill C-45 in June, which will come into effect this week.

Here’s what you need to know.

Only a few aspects of the law will be dictated at the federal level. This includes the limits to possession—adults will be permitted to have up to 30 grams of marijuana and as many as four plants per household. Medical marijuana, which has been legal since 2001, will remain in place.
