Cannabis oil sales high as national chain introduces new ranges

National health-food store Holland Barrett has started stocking cannabis oil as sales of the product hit new heights.

The oil is believed by many to have the power to alleviate the symptoms of multiple ­sclerosis, ease joint pain and help sufferers deal with anxiety and depression.

However, the chain’s website has mixed reviews with comments ranging from “excellent for many ailments – liquid gold” to “I’m not noticing anything”.

Holland Barrett, which has outlets at High Cross and in Horsefair Street, is the first national high-street retailer to have cannabis oil on its shelves.

The Cannabis Trades Association UK says that the number of users has increased from 125,000 to 250,000 over the last year.

Cannabidiol oil, or CDB, is produced by pressing hemp leaves and flowers.
