At a time when the state’s budding cannabis industry is under threat from federal authorities, a grassroots network of entrepreneurs and researchers has taken root in Somerville.
On Thursday, Jan. 25, dozens of industry leaders gathered at Canopy City on Tyler Street for the first in a series of marijuana-related forums that will unfold over the next six months. The goal is to grow a network for stakeholders and provide a platform for exploring topics like medical research, equitable access, addiction and policy.
“We’re trying to connect all centers of excellence — not just in academia, but also in business,” said Randall MacCaffrie, co-founder of Cannabis Community Care and Research Network (C3RN), the Somerville business hosting the event series.
