Cannabis oil and toffee in post

A 41-year-old Douglas man has admitted ordering cannabis oil and toffee infused with the drug on the dark web to combat his Crohn’s Disease.

Stuart Watts, of Norwood Drive, was sentenced to a two-year conditional discharge after pleading guilty to a charge of production of a controlled drug to the island.

He was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.

Prosecutor Barry Swain told the court how, on August 23 at 7.50am, police attended the post office’s sorting office in Douglas with drug detection dogs after a report of a suspicious package.

A police dog indicated that the package contained illegal substances and it was subsequently opened.
