Yet Another Study Has Found Cannabis To Be An Effective Treatment For Chronic Pain

Using cannabis to relieve chronic pain is both safe and effective, according to a new study.

Researchers from Montreal and Vancouver followed 215 adults – 141 current cannabis users and 58 ex-consumers – who used medical marijuana for a year, as well as a control group of 216 chronic pain patients who didn’t use cannabis at all.

Cannabis-using participants were given flower containing 12.5 percent THC and had the option of consuming it however they liked. Most chose inhalation or vaporization.  

Following the one-year study period, patients who used cannabis reported a significant reduction in discomfort and an enhanced quality of life compared to the control group.

Moreover, researchers found that cannabis consumers did not have a greater risk of side effects than the non-consumers.
