Review finds 140 controlled clinical trials of cannabis

Cannabis has met the “gold standard” of scientific review. Scientists have conducted more than 140 controlled clinical trials since 1975 assessing the safety and efficacy of either whole-plant cannabis or specific cannabinoids, according to a literature review published in the journal Critical Reviews in Plant Sciences.

Thousands more studies have met lesser standards and, throughout most of the 47 years since the Controlled Substances Act was adopted, the federal government has provided about 6.65 pounds per year of medical marijuana to patients in its IND program. Oh, and the Feds also hold a patent on medical marijuana, which they say has no medical value.
