‘Father of Cannabis Research’ visiting CSU-Pueblo

The “Father of Cannabis Research” was in familiar surroundings Friday on the campus of Colorado State University-Pueblo during the school’s 2017 Institute for Cannabis Research Conference.

Raphael Mechoulam, an organic chemist and professor of medicinal chemistry at the Institute of Drug Research at Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel, was answering questions about cannabis.

The pioneer in the field of cannabis research and a discoverer of the endocannabinoid system addressed the media a day before his keynote speech at the conference today.

Mechoulam is scheduled to present the inaugural Mechoulam Lecture named in his honor as part of the conference, today from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., in Hoag Recital Hall.

Mechoulam said he was honored to be in attendance at the conference and has strong hopes for the newly formed institution at CSU-Pueblo.
